Recruitment Scams Warning

Thank you for your interest in Wilbur Labs. Scammers have been impersonating Wilbur Labs with fake remote job offers. Scammers may use our logo, real employee names, and generate documents that appear official and legitimate. These scams may involve fake interviews, fraudulent applications, or counterfeit offer letters, often aiming to obtain money or sensitive personal and financial information.

How to spot a recruitment scam

• Suspicious communication: Be cautious of unsolicited messages from unfamiliar sources or websites. Wilbur Labs will never contact you from free email accounts (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail) or unverified platforms.
• Lookalike domains: We only use official email addresses from @wilburlabs.com. Scammers commonly register domains that closely resemble ours: changing or dropping a single letter, adding a word or a hyphen, or keeping the name and changing the ending. Check the sender’s full email address rather than the display name, which is easy to fake, and read the domain character by character. The same applies to links in a message. • Chat-based or text-only interviews: Interviews at Wilbur Labs are only conducted through live video calls with cameras on, and in-person meetings with several team members. Every Wilbur Labs role, including fully remote roles, includes at least one in-person interview before an offer is made. Be cautious of invitations to interview by chat or on text-based platforms, including text-only conversations with one single interviewer.
• Unfamiliar claims: Be cautious of recruiters claiming to have your resume from an application that you don’t remember or recognize.
• Offers that come together too quickly: Be skeptical of any hiring process that moves from first contact to a written offer after a single interview, or that promises unusually generous pay for the work described. Wilbur Labs does not extend job offers without multiple interviews, including live video calls, in-person interviews, and reference checks.
• Requests for sensitive information or payment: We will never ask for personal data (such as your Social Security number, national identification number, date of birth, bank account details, or passport information) during the application process. We will never ask for any payments at any stage of the hiring process, and we will never ask you to purchase equipment, deposit a check, or transfer funds on our behalf.

If you suspect a scam

Please contact us directly and we will confirm the authenticity of a communication claiming to be from Wilbur Labs. If you have already sent money or shared financial information, contact your bank immediately and report it to the relevant authorities.
